Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how TeamBuy (“TeamBuy”, “we”, “us”) handles your personal information when you use the TeamBuy mobile app and website (together, the “Service”). TeamBuy lets people nearby form “clubs” at a store so a group can unlock an offer together.

By creating an account or using the Service you confirm that you have read this policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Service.

Information you give us

• Account details: your name, email address and mobile number. Your email address is verified with a one-time code we send you. Your mobile number is required to register.
• Profile details: an optional profile photo and the city you choose.
• Club activity: clubs you create or ask to join, the offers and amounts you contribute, your requests and their status, and purchase bills a club admin uploads for a completed group order.
• Favourites and feedback: stores you save and any feedback you send us.

Information collected from your device

• Location: if you allow it, your device location while you are using the app, so we can show nearby stores and clubs. We store your latest location on your profile. You can refuse or withdraw this permission in your device settings and still browse stores and clubs.
• Technical data: a sign-in token kept on your device, and basic server logs such as IP address, request time and device or browser type, used to keep the Service secure and working.

What we do not collect

We do not collect payment card or bank details. Purchases are paid by you directly to the store at its counter, not through TeamBuy.

• To create and secure your account, and to sign you in with a one-time email code.
• To show nearby stores and clubs, and to let you create, join and manage clubs.
• To send service messages, such as sign-in codes and updates about your clubs and requests.
• To store purchase bills as a record of completed group orders.
• To prevent fraud, abuse and misuse, including fake or throwaway accounts.
• To understand your feedback and improve the Service.
• To meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

• Your name and profile photo are shown to the admin and members of clubs you create or join.
• When you ask to join a club, the club admin also sees your location at the time of the request, so they can tell how close you are to the store.
• Your email address and mobile number are not shown to other users.

We share information only with the service providers that help us run the Service, and only as needed:

• Email delivery: Brevo, to send your one-time sign-in codes. Your email address is passed to them for this purpose.
• Maps and place data: Google Places, to find stores and store details, and OpenStreetMap Nominatim, to turn addresses and coordinates into place names. Search text or coordinates are sent to them when you search or use location features.
• Hosting and database: the cloud providers that store our data and run our servers.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights, safety or property of our users or TeamBuy, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of the business (in which case we will tell you if your information is affected).

You can delete your account at any time in the app: open the Profile tab and choose Delete account.

Don't have the app installed? Email info@teambuy.in from the email address registered to your account, with the subject Delete my account. We will delete your account for you, and the steps below apply in the same way.

• For 30 days your account is deactivated and hidden from other users, and any clubs you ran are cancelled. If you change your mind, log in again with your email within 30 days to restore it.
• After 30 days we remove your name, email address, mobile number, profile photo, saved location, favourites and notifications.
• Records of clubs, requests and purchase bills that other people took part in may be kept afterwards in a form that no longer identifies you, for accounting, fraud prevention and legal reasons.

One-time sign-in codes expire within minutes and are stored only as a one-way hash. We keep other data for as long as your account is active, or as the law requires.

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections, hashed one-time codes and limits on sign-in attempts. No online service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your email account secure, because it is how you sign in.

Subject to applicable law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India), you can:

• Access and correct your name and mobile number from the Profile tab.
• Delete your account and personal data, as described above.
• Turn off location access at any time in your device settings.
• Ask us what personal data we hold about you, or raise a complaint about how we handle it.

To make a request or complaint, email info@teambuy.in. We will respond within a reasonable time and in line with the law.

TeamBuy is meant for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
